Lori Cohen, Marriage Family Therapist, is a licensed psychotherapist and is currently a Clinical Supervisor for a School Based Mental Health Program with a community contracted mental health agency. In this position she oversees and manages the agency’s various clinical and administrative needs and various other functions required to manage such an agency. In addition, she clinically supervises interns and clinicians, in individual and group settings, who are working towards there state licensing credentials, to assist them in providing the most valuable, therapeutic, spiritual and transformational experience to their clients.

Lori has wide ranging experience in providing psychotherapeutic processes and interventions to children, families, couples and the chronic mentally ill. She has gained experience in various settings including community counseling centers and agencies, county contracted agencies, non-public schools. In the private sector, she has provided psychotherapeutic services, supportive counseling services and trainings to troubled teens and adolescents, foster care children, adults, as well as families and their children in such various community, non-profit and private settings.

She has been involved in numerous trainings and workshops from family trainings to couples workshops/trainings, relationship trainings, working with troubled and difficult teens, working with dreams and the unconscious, art and play therapies, short term and other brief models of therapy, substance abuse, dual diagnosis and the addicted brain, and the like, and imparts these skills and knowledge to her staff through trainings and supervised clinical settings.

Lori also maintains a private practice for couples, families and individuals. Coupling her extensive clinical training and experience with her deeply intuitive skills and her profound ability to listen and understand, her clinical team and clients benefit from an amazing increase in ability to function well in their lives – in their relationships, their work and school lives.

Pertinent training:

Ryokan College: Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and Bachelors of Arts Degree in Human Behavior. Ryokan College provides a supportive learning environment that stimulates creativity and spirituality, and brings forth the potential in every student.

Additionally, Lori has maintained an open and abiding interest in human potential and spiritual growth which has fueled her involvement in personal growth programs like The Forum and other like trainings which enhanced both her own life and those of her clients.

Lori has also traveled extensively and lived in many parts of the world and has the experience and acute sensitivity to others and their unique cultural life experiences which are significant in understanding many other factors that affect behavior patterns and that ultimately can be pervasive in the making of a relationship.

She lives in Southern California with her son and husband.
